Backpacking through Europe June-July 2000
Below are a few picture from my trip to Europe June-July 2000. My excursion started in Paris, France and contined on for 24 days. After Paris, I went to the following cities in these following countries:
GERMANY - Stuttgart, Munich and Dachau
ITALY - Venice, Rome, Florence, Pisa and Milan
SPAIN - Barcelona, Pamplona and San Tander

Eiffel Tower - Paris, France
This was the 1st major site I saw when I left the airport. I am standing on the tunnel where Princess Diana died.
Eiffel Tower
I am standing near the base of the infamous structure. At the end of my trip, I returned to Paris for 2 extra days. One day, I walked through town to the Eiffel Tower. I decided to rest and fell asleep in the grass around the tower. When I fell asleep there were people playing soccer all around. When I awoke, at dusk, there were couples converging in the park for a romantic dinner. Now I understand why they call Paris the "City of Love."
Arc De Triumph - Paris, France
This arc was erected for Nepolian. It is the largest Arc in existence.
Norte Dame - Paris, France
This is standing in front of Notre Dame. If you chose, you could pay to climb the 400 steps to the Bell Tower where the Hunchback was said to live.

Notre Dame - back
Another view (and my personal favorite) of the church.
Oven - Dachau, Germany
This picture was taken at a Nazi Concentration Camp in Dachau, Germany. These ovens were used incinerate innocent people.
Venice, Italy
This is a picture of my favoite city in Italy...Venice. It is beautiful. There is not one car in this city. Everyone travels by boat. There are no streets, just pathways between buildings.
Colesium - Rome, Italy
This is the Colesium so many talk about. The Colesium is missing it's floor and looks to be rebuilding it. Under the floor, housed the Gladiators, criminals and animals used during the games. There was an elevator system already in existence, used to bring the fighters and animals (tigers) out to fight.

Statue of David - Florence, Italy
I waited in line for 3 hours just to see this statue. The line went for blocks. This is one of the most famous statues in history. It is a creation of Michaelangelo. Notice the hand is disproportional to te rest of the body. The hand is suppose to represent te power of God.

Leaning Tower of Pisa - Pisa, Italy
My very 1st reaction when seeing this tower the 1st time (April 1996) and the 2nd time (July 2000) was "WOW, it REALLY does lean!" The tower is leaning more and more each year. The Italians are now trying to straighten this leaning fenomenon. There are large cables attached the the structure to keep it from leaning any furthure.
